Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a surprising crossover event that breaks usual predictions, the game developer has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Revealed
According to the formal release, "A strange encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome changes reverberate through the obscurity." The narrative features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine cult.
The adventure focuses on "strange experiments and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Transformations
The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview concludes with a striking scene showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Additional Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana together with several objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Update
This update also introduces the game's newest free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
